This year's exhibition was the BEST Roberts Elementary has ever seen! All of the 5th graders did an AWESOME job presenting their visual presentations. I could see the amounts of hard hard they had all put in to their exhibition project. We are sad that exhibition day is over, but we will always remember what a fantastic experience it was.

Exhibition Day Tomorrow!!!
Exhibition day is finally upon us! We have been working hard since the beginning of October, and can’t wait for you to see what the students have produced! The students have been presenting their Exhibition projects to their own classes in preparation for the BIG day tomorrow. Each class will present for one hour in the cafeteria, and our class is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Students are to dress as if they are going to a special event. Please no jeans, t-shirts, or tennis shoes. Boys usually choose to wear slacks and a button-up shirt or polo. Suits or ties are optional, but are always nice for exhibition day. Girls usually choose to wear slacks and a blouse or a dress. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can’t wait for you all to see the products of all their hard work!

It's ACTION TIME: An Exhibition Update.
Exhibition is in full swing and our 5th graders have done a wonderful job researching the topics they have chosen. This year’s central idea, “What People Do Now Can Affect The Future,” has brought about great conversations among everyone on campus from children to mentors. Topics range from service dogs to childhood obesity to biomass energy. Each project is as individual as the children themselves.
This week, we will begin our "ACTION" component of Exhibiton. This is the ONLY part of the Exhibition process that is done outside of class. By the end of the week, each group will have a planned and scheduled action.
As a parent, you can help your child by:
*supporting and encouraging them throughout the process
*being informed by reading newsletters, checking blog sites, talking with students
*helping your child to access resources—people, places, media and information
*providing expert subject knowledge where applicable
*encouraging independent inquiry and respecting your child’s ownership of the process
*celebrating with your child by attending Exhibition on December 15th.
The 5th graders are also in charge of an Exhibition blog that is linked to the IBO website. Please feel free to post comments.

Week of September 14, 2009
I wanted to thank all of the parents who attended Parents Night last week. I hope that I was able to answer any questions and address any concerns you had about our 5th grade class. If you have any other questions or wanted to discuss something I did not cover, please feel free to email me to set up a time to meet (Conference times are Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:00).
If you have not already done so, I would like for you to become a "follower" of our classroom blog site. It is a GREAT way to interact with other parents and students in our class.
I want to send out a BIG "THANK YOU" to Robert Gottschalk for installing the "floor protectors" on all of the desks, tables and chairs in our classroom.
