Grading Policy Reminder

If the student scores less than a 75 on any assignment, they will be given the opportunity to redo it after speaking to the teacher about the questions missed. The highest grade that can be received on a redo is a 75. In order to receive the higher grade, the students must “correct and reflect.” This means that they must rewrite the questions on a separate sheet of paper with the corrected answer, as well as the reason they feel that they missed the question initially. This paper must be stapled to the original. It is the responsibility of the student to redo failing grades, not the teacher. We will not ask a student to redo work. Their grade is in their hands. Any student wishing to improve any test grade may re-take it and will receive the average of the two. Deadlines for assignments are also an important element in fifth grade. Students are expected to turn their work in on the day that it is due with the required heading on it. This is good practice for middle school where they could be given a zero if the assignment is not turned in on time, or if it is turned in without a name on it. Points will be deducted in each of these cases.

If you have any questions regarding the 5th Grade grading policy, please feel free to contact me.

Exhibition Day!

This year's exhibition was the BEST Roberts Elementary has ever seen! All of the 5th graders did an AWESOME job presenting their visual presentations. I could see the amounts of hard hard they had all put in to their exhibition project. We are sad that exhibition day is over, but we will always remember what a fantastic experience it was.

Exhibition Day Tomorrow!!!

Exhibition day is finally upon us! We have been working hard since the beginning of October, and can’t wait for you to see what the students have produced! The students have been presenting their Exhibition projects to their own classes in preparation for the BIG day tomorrow. Each class will present for one hour in the cafeteria, and our class is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

Students are to dress as if they are going to a special event. Please no jeans, t-shirts, or tennis shoes. Boys usually choose to wear slacks and a button-up shirt or polo. Suits or ties are optional, but are always nice for exhibition day. Girls usually choose to wear slacks and a blouse or a dress. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can’t wait for you all to see the products of all their hard work!
